How to Raise Money for a Good Cause without Asking

Want to raise money for a good cause without doing anything? This may sound like a trick (or a well-crafted spam message), but we assure you it’s not.

If you have a blog or website, you can now raise money without asking for donations thanks to Adtruism. Freshly launched on Wednesday, this new widget originating from Dublin, Ireland allows bloggers or website owners to place a simple commercial advertisement and Adtruism (a nonprofit) transfers all of the ad-revenue to your charity of choice.

Created out of the desire to utilize our current culture of “slacktivism” online (which is defined by Urban Dictionary as “the act of participating in obviously pointless activities as an expedient alternative to actually expending effort to fix a problem”), Adtruism allows people to raise awareness and funds for causes they like by simply adding a harmless ad (of a size of their choice) to their site.

And, even better, the ads featured on your website will never feature dating sites, alcohol, gambling, or anything illegal or inappropriate. (And they won’t allow ads that use autoplay video or audio—yeah, they’re really on top of things.)

Adtruism also allows folks to submit suggestions of nonprofits who should benefit from this unique innovation. Only the nonprofits that they’ve been in contact with will be available for donations via this widget (but the list is continually growing). Have a suggestion for an awesome nonprofit who could use a boost? Send it in!

Sound too good to be true? We promise it’s a legit charity (they even guarantee that 100% of the revenue will go to the charities). They’re new, innovative and looking for support—go check them out at Adtruism.com.
