Biography - Rick Kress
Rick has been principal of Kress Consulting since 2001, serving nonprofits in healthcare, social services, and education. His expertise is in major and planned gifts, fundraising strategy, prospect development, and governance. He is adept at providing highly customized solutions to help nonprofits create and take advantage of philanthropic opportunities. Prior to consulting, he served as vice president of development for Beaumont Hospitals and Providence Hospitals and Medical Centers, two Top 100 Hospitals, and Lutheran Social Services of Michigan (now Samaritas), winner of the Crain’s Detroit Best Managed Nonprofit Award. He provides 42 years of executive experience from a variety of nonprofit organizations. He has worked in over 100 capital campaigns, ranging from $1 million to $120 million, and has never missed a goal. He has served on eight nonprofit boards and been chair of five of those boards, as well as president of two professional associations. He has the Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive (ACFRE) credential, one of about 100 people in the world with that distinction. Rick is also an ordained Protestant pastor.
