Zoom Only Program
Presenter: Vern Snyder, Retired, University of Toledo

For close to 30 years, Vern Snyder, ACFRE headed up the development/institutional advancement efforts at three different state universities, while serving as an international development thought-leader. Vern’s supervisory efforts as a Vice President of Institutional Advancement raised in excess of $500 million dollars.

In this Zoom session, Roundtable board member and Program Committee Chairman Paul Hood “interviews” his former boss (who Paul insists was a better boss for him than the 25+ years that Paul’s been his own boss) with the questions that Paul’s always wanted to ask Vern about development/institutional advancement and planned giving, including:

1. How does planned giving best fit within the overall development/institutional advancement effort?
2. In your opinion, are metrics even helpful in evaluating a planned giving effort, and, if so, what metrics do you believe are the most valuable?
3. What’s your take on so-called “plannual giving?”
4. What’s your take on so-called “blended giving?”
5. What are the qualities of a planned giving professional that you believe are the most effective, e.g., legal/tax knowledge, people skills, organizational skills, diligence, etc., beneficial and indicative of success?
6. Looking forward ten years or so, what will the development/institutional advancement effort look like, and what role will planned giving play in it?

However, if you’ve got a question that you’d like Paul to consider asking Vern, e-mail the question to Paul (paul@paulhoodservices.com) or to Roundtable Executive Director Lori Brauer (pgrtsem@gmail.com). But don’t miss this session!!!
