Controversial Gifts: Solutions through Policy or Gift Agreement
Presenter: Donna J Snyder, Associate General Counsel, University of Michigan & Robin D. Ferriby, Senior Counsel, Clark Hill, PLC
In recent years, the conduct of people who donate to charitable organizations has come under scrutiny. Examples include Vice President John C. Calhoun from the distant past, and Jeffrey Epstein and the Sackler Family from the present who have had their lives analyzed in relation to their charitable gifts. We will discuss possible solutions to handle controversial gifts, including using policy and agreements to avoid or minimize controversy.
