Working with donors to set up planned gifts is an important part of every charity's fundraising strategy. But once a donor dies, the process of realizing their planned gift can feel overwhelming, especially if you don't have a law degree. What does "normal" look like? And when should you be concerned if the process falls outside the norm? This presentation will review the estate and trust settlement process from a legal perspective, with a particular focus on common problems, what charities can do about them, and when it might be time to lawyer up.
