Take a Volunteer Vacation

Does work have you feeling a little down lately? Maybe you’ve been waiting for your chance to get away. Vacations can be a great way to relieve some stress, but they can also be a great time to volunteer. Next time you can get away from your normal routine, consider helping someone else out and lending a hand to a nonprofit.

Far, Far Away
If you’re off to a far away place, you’ve probably been planning for months. But try taking at least one day out of your itinerary to do some volunteer work. This will provide you and your companions with volunteer options unique from anything else that you’ve experienced. Remember that people all over the world need help, and this is your chance to make a difference on a larger scale.

A Few Days Journey
If you can steal away for even the weekend, you will find plenty of organizations within a few hours from your home that need assistance. Make a weekend getaway out of it by volunteering for half of the day, and using the other half to see the sights or go out on the town. You’ll feel good about your day after you know that you’ve made a difference in someone else’s day.

In Your Area
If even for only a day, you can make the most out of your experience by giving back to your community. After all, it’s the place where you reside, and wouldn’t you like to see it running at it’s best? Pick a local organization to lend a hand at, and call ahead to let them know you’d like to help out. They’ll be thrilled to have the extra help for a day, and you can even develop a relationship to come back in the future since they are close to you.
